چکیده

Abstract This paper presents a numerical model of the laser welding steel, taking into account heat and mass flows, as well thermal effects associated with phase transformations. It was assumed that source is symmetrical power distribution TEM 10 beam in two condition variants: stationary moving at constant speed along sample. After reaching melting temperature, movement liquid forced by Marangoni effect acting on surface pool. For applied, pool to be flat. proposed an algorithm for forecasting changes during heating cooling. Diffusive transformations cooling were modelled using Johnson-Mehl-Avrami-Kolmogorov (JMAK) equations. Diffusionless occurring when rates exceed critical ones Koistinen-Marburger (KM) Calculations made rectangular sample welded air cooled spontaneously atmosphere. The boundary conditions simulated assuming coefficient exchange radiation environment. start end time calculated based average rate temperature range 800–500°C ( v 8/5 ). tested test material: S355J2 steel.

Influence of shielding gas composition on weld profile in pulsed Nd:YAG laser welding of low carbon steel

Weld area and weld depth/width ratio can be considered to be of the most important geometrical factors in pulsed laser welding. The effects of carbon dioxide and oxygen additions to the argon shielding gas on the weld properties in pulsed laser welding of low carbon steel is investigated. Presence of carbon dioxide and oxygen up to 10 and 15 percent respectively decreases the weld geometrical f...

PHASE TRANSFORMATION DURING WEAR OF AISI STAINLESS STEEL 316

Abstract: Austenitic stainless steels exhibit a low hardness and weak tribological properties. The wear behaviour of austenitic stainless steel AISI 316 was evaluated through the pin on disc tribological method. For investigating the effect of wear on the changes in microstructure and resistance to wear, optical microscopy and scanning electron microscope were used. The hardness of the worn...
